The Kantara Fund 

 

Management of the Kantara Fund, a USD 161 million private equity fund, was taken over by Abraaj in August of 2011. The core strategy of the fund is to make growth capital investments in small and mid-cap companies across the countries of Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt. Through the Kantara Fund, Abraaj will proactively target sectors and companies that are expected to experience strong growth in the foreseeable future through access to growing markets including both domestic consumers and international markets resulting from accession to the US and EU Free Trade zones. The fund will focus on companies at the higher-quality end of their respective industries, often those that have benefitted from first mover advantage, and that will be primary targets for regional or international consolidation.
