Ömer Meserretçioğlu joined Abraaj in 2008 and has over 9 years of private equity, investment banking and management consulting experience. Based in Istanbul he is a member of the investment team responsible for the sourcing, evaluation and execution of transactions as well as the management and monitoring of Abraaj’s investments in Turkey. Since joining Abraaj Mr. Meserretçioğlu has been actively involved in the post-acquisition management of Abraaj’s investment in Acibadem Healthcare Group where he worked closely with senior management on the evaluation and implementation of strategic initiatives including M&A activities, and has been responsible for deal execution in Abraaj’s sale of its stake in Acibadem Healthcare to Integrated Healthcare Holdings from Malaysia.

Prior to joining Abraaj Ömer Meserretçioğlu was an Associate in Investment Banking with Lehman Brothers in New York focusing on M&A and financing transactions covering a variety of financial institutions including regional banks, mortgage insurers and broker & dealers. Before Lehman he was a consultant with Bain & Company in Chicago and advised clients in retail, technology and manufacturing sectors.

Mr. Meserretçioğlu holds an MBA from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Northwestern University.

Gavin Neilan is a Principal at Abraaj Capital and has over 9 years of experience in private equity, real estate and finance. At Abraaj he is a member of the Real Estate Investment Team and is involved in all aspects of the investment process including origination, structuring, execution and post-acquisition management of portfolio investments.

Prior to joining Abraaj, Mr. Neilan was an Associate Director within the Principal Real Estate Finance team at The Royal Bank of Scotland. His responsibilities included origination and execution of real estate debt solutions for leading financial sponsors, property companies and corporations and balance sheet real estate equity investments. He was involved in over US$ 5 billion of financings, investments, restructurings and divestures covering the retail, leisure, office, hospitality, residential, healthcare and industrial sectors.

Mr Neilan began his career in 2002 at Allen & Overy in London and Singapore, where he trained and practised as a transactional lawyer advising multi-national corporations and financial institutions on financings, restructurings and mergers and acquisitions.

Mr. Neilan holds an MBA from INSEAD, Postgraduate Diploma in Law from Nottingham Law School and an LLB Law degree from University College London.

Mr. Zikar  has over 15 years of experience in areas of strategic and financial planning, reporting and control, treasury and taxation, new product planning and launch, operational excellence initiatives, risk management, operational and CIS audit.

Prior to joining Abraaj in 2006, Mr. Zikar worked with companies in Middle East and Pakistan including the Middle East Broadcasting Group, Merck Sharp & Dohme, Central Depository Company and PWC in finance, audit and tax functions.

Mr. Zikar is a qualified chartered accountant and a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.

Ghizlan Guenez is a Senior Vice President within the Abraaj Sustainability and Stakeholder Engagement Track (ASSET), primarily responsible for Strategic Philanthropy and Strategic Platforms as part of the firm’s engagement with its stakeholder community.

Ms. Guenez has a convening role at Abraaj through directing an active event management program with its stakeholders throughout the year. In addition, she drives key elements of ASSET by directing the Social Investing Program and representing the firm in a number of initiatives including the Abraaj Capital Mustaqbali Foundation, Injaz Al Arab, Endeavor Global and Ruwwad. She manages the engagement with Strategic Platforms such as the World Economic Forum, EMPEA, Art Dubai and the ‘Celebration of Entrepreneurship’.

Ms. Guenez is a graduate of the London School of Economics with First Class Honors in Business Management. She has been with the firm since its inception.

Hisham Moussa is a Principal at Abraaj Capital. Prior to joining Abraaj, Mr. Moussa worked for HSBC Holdings Plc in Dubai in the Global Investment Banking Advisory & Research teams for two and a half years, covering the Middle East and North Africa region. During his term at HSBC, he was involved in a number of sell-side assignments for mid-market clients in the retail, industrial, transportation and construction sectors. Before that, Mr. Moussa worked for KPMG helping develop their Corporate Finance business in Qatar. Mr. Moussa started his career as an equity analyst in Cairo covering publicly listed Egyptian stocks in the telecommunications, construction and building materials industries.

Mr. Moussa is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and has a Bachelors degree in commerce from Cairo University.

Tarik Awad joined Abraaj Capital in 2012 as the Country Head for Jordan and Fund Manager for the Jordan Growth Capital Fund.
 
Prior to joining Abraaj, Mr. Awad was the Executive Director of the King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD),  a position he held since 2001. During his tenure, Mr. Awad developed the Fund to become one of the leading entities in Jordan that focuses on achieving socio-economic development in all governorates as per the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
 
In his role as Executive Director of KAFD, Mr. Awad provided leadership to the establishment of companies and investments in various industries, from the Dead Sea Company which owns the King Hussein bin Talal Convention Center, to the ongoing establishment of the King Hussein Institute for Biotechnology and Cancer and the South Company for Construction and Development (Ma’an Development Area).
 
He has also managed the execution of several Royal initiatives and programs at a national level: the IT Community Centers (Knowledge Stations), agricultural projects and numerous youth programs, among others. At a regional level, he ensured the implementation of His Majesty’s initiatives such as the Middle East Science Fund and the King Abdullah II Award for Youth Innovation and Achievement. 
 
Mr. Awad has a long standing commitment to the development of Jordan that is reflected in his serving on the board of directors/trustees of many companies and NGOs in Jordan. These include the National Microfinance Bank, Oasis 500, King Abdullah II Center for Excellence, Al Mafraq Development Company and INJAZ. 
 
Prior to joining KAFD, Mr. Awad spent 12 years as a senior executive with major multinationals in the US and the Middle East including Mobil Oil Corporation, Pepsi Cola International and Boscan Middle East Investment Ltd.
 
Mr. Awad holds an MBA degree in Finance and Investments from the University of North Texas and obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Louisiana.

Huda Al Lawati has over 9 years of experience in private equity and finance. At Abraaj she is a member of the investment team responsible for structuring, execution and post-acquisition management and monitoring of transactions across the private equity family of funds. She has completed several transactions at Abraaj, developing strong experience in a number of industries including oil & gas, shipping and healthcare. She has worked on Abraaj’s acquisition of the leading healthcare group in Turkey, Acibadem and has been responsible for Stanford Marine Group (OSV, oil services), an Abraaj portfolio company, since 2008 where she works closely with the senior management team on initiation, evaluation and execution of strategic initiatives including financing, business development and M&A related activities.
 
Ms. Al Lawati started her career in 2001 with Schlumberger in Muscat, Oman where she managed the fiscal accounts and tax audits of all Schlumberger subsidiaries and branches in Oman. She was also responsible for performance reporting by product line with a focus on wireline and well stimulation segments. She joined ABQ Zawya in 2003 where she developed and implemented the business plan and strategy for a regionally focused online financial portal. She was responsible for liaising with equity research houses and exchanges across the region and building industry specific financial reporting and analysis templates.

Mohammed Aldakhil has more than a decade of experience in wealth management and corporate finance, primarily in Geneva and New York. At Abraaj Capital he is responsible for investor relations and corporate business development covering the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  Prior to joining Abraaj Capital, Mr. Aldakhil was Chief Executive Officer at Global Investment and Management S.A., where he led a team of wealth management professionals.
 
Mr. Aldakhil started his career with Merrill Lynch in 1998 and held senior management positions within the Bank during his tenure. His most recent position was Senior Vice President in the Private Investment Bank Group (Geneva) for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.  

Mr. Aldakhil holds a Masters in Business Administration from The American Graduate School of International Management at Thunderbird University and a BA in Corporate Finance from American Colleges in Los Angeles, California.

Zulfiqar Ali joined Abraaj in June 2007 and during his time at Abraaj, has been involved in originating and evaluating transactions in the Oil & Gas and Power sectors in Turkey, the UAE and Pakistan. He has beeninvolved in two landmark transactions at Abraaj. He co-led Abraaj's acquisition of a 40% stake in Byco Industries Inc., the holding company for the Bosicor Group in Pakistan. Mr. Ali was instrumental in structuring,negotiating and completing the transaction. He also played a key role in completing Abraaj's acquisition of a controlling stake in the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC). Mr. Ali led a significant portion of the due diligence and negotiations with the Government of Pakistan, including the negotiation of a revised Implementation Agreement for the company. He has also taken the lead on negotiations with lending banks and multilaterals such as the IFC and Asian Development Bank, and helped to negotiate or renegotiate key EPC contracts.
 
Prior to joining Abraaj, Mr. Zulfiqar Ali spent 12 years with Citigroup in London as Director/Senior Credit Officer in Project Finance and Risk Management for Structured Finance Products. During his time at Citibank, he worked on a broad range of transactions. He led the Structured Products Risk teams that evaluated and executed the financings for the Petro-Rabigh Refinery Project in Saudi Arabia, the Qatargas 2 and 3 LNG projects in Qatar, the Wataniya Telecom financing in Algeria, and the Sohar Aluminium transaction in Oman. He was senior member of the team that advised the sponsors of Nigeria LNG on their first US $1 billion debt financing and the parallel US $450 million financing for Bonny Gas Transport that achieved what was then the longest tenor of 13 years for clean Nigeria risk. He led the financing of Barrick's Bulyanhulu Gold Project in Tanzania which again achieved a record tenor of 9 years. Mr. Ali was a senior member of the Citibank/Citigroup teams that advised the sponsors of the Damietta LNG Project in Egypt, the Uch Power and the Asia Petroleum Pipeline projects in Pakistan. He was also involved in a variety of other Oil and Gas, petrochemicals, power, water and other infrastructure transactions in India, Bangladesh, Egypt, Spain and the UK.
 
Between his time at Citigroup and Abraaj, Mr. Ali was Vice President with SEDCO’s Direct Investment Group based in Dubai, where he completed and originated a number of transactions in IT, healthcare and manufacturing.
 
Mr. Ali holds a BA (Honors) from Vassar College and a MSc. in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Walid Bakr is a Principal with Riyada Enterprise Development, the small and medium enterprise investment platform of Abraaj Capital. Now based in Cairo, Mr. Bakr started his career as an information-technology professional and entrepreneur before becoming an investment professional for the last nine years. Given his operational and entrepreneurial background, as well as plenty of exposure to the international business community, Mr. Bakr brings a wealth of experience to his investment activities.
 
Before joining Abraaj, Mr. Bakr was a director of Riyada Ventures, a venture capital firm based in Amman, Jordan, which was subsequently purchased by Abraaj Capital. Whilst at Riyada Ventures, Mr. Bakr advised on numerous investment funds and participated in structuring many early- stage investment transactions in the Middle East and North Africa. Before that, he was the CEO of IDEAVELOPERS, an EFG-Hermes subsidiary responsible for setting up and advising the Technology Development Fund, Egypt’s first seed and early-stage information and communications technology venture capital fund.
 
During his career, Mr. Bakr has held management positions in the Egyptian ministry of CIT, the Arab Stock Exchange, and Sunbelt Software in Paris, France, amongst others.
 
He holds a B.Sc. in Communications Engineering, with the highest honours, from Alexandria University.

Mr.Callet is a member of the investment team of RED, and serves as a Managing Director responsible for overseeing the Kantara North Africa platform . He joined RED  in 2011 upon Abraaj’s acquisition of the Kantara fund. 
 
Prior to joining Kantara, Mr. Callet worked for SGAM (Societe Generale) as an equity analyst and joined SGAM Private Equity in 1999. In 2001, he managed the turnaround fund department with two private equity funds in Romania and Baltic Countries and in  2002 became the Managing Partner of all Emerging Markets Funds for SGAM Private Equity. He successfully raised two funds: a 150 million Euro fund for Eastern Europe and a 150 million Euro fund for North Africa (Kantara).

Mr. Rafik Dalala is a member of the investment team of RED, focused on the Kantara North Africa platform. He joined RED in 2011 upon Abraaj Capital’s acquisition of the Kantara fund. He is based in Egypt.

Mr. Dalala was part of the team that oversaw the establishment and launch of the Cairo office for the Kantara Fund. Prior to joining Kantara, Mr. Dalala has had exposure to both the equity buy side, as a manager of a listed equity fund, and the sell side where he co-founded Intercap Partners in 2001 to provide investment banking services to mid-cap private market companies in Canada. This was followed in 2006 by the establishment of a joint venture to provide similar services to companies in the Middle East with operations in Egypt and the UAE. As a Partner and Head of Investment Banking with these firms, he managed a group of bankers and led and executed several transactions in the resource industries, food and beverage, manufacturing and technology.

Prior to his involvement in the financial services industry, Mr. Dalala spent 12+ years as an industry professional where his track record includes corporate line management experience with two multinationals in the industrial field, strategic planning with a major oil company, and a founder and partner in three new business ventures.

Mr. Dalala holds an MBA in Finance from McGill University and a BSc. degree in Chemical Engineering (with honors) from Cairo University. He is a Chartered Business Valuator with professional accreditation to practice in Canada and the United States

Ragheb El Rami, who has more than nine years of corporate and structured finance experience, joined Abraaj Capital in 2006 where he is primarily responsible for identifying, structuring, and executing investment opportunities in the MENASA region. He is currently responsible for monitoring and monetizing investments for the Abraaj office in Saudi Arabia. Before joining Abraaj, Mr. El Rami was a project development manager for DaimlerChrysler financial services in its structured finance group. Before that, he was at Deloitte in its corporate finance group in Dubai, where he performed valuations, financial and operational due diligence assignments and feasibility studies across a number of industries including retail, hospitality, insurance, financial services and contracting.
 
Mr. El Rami holds a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, a Master of Business Administration from London Business School and is also a CFA charter holder. He is also a member of the Dubai-based Young Arab Leaders.

Mr. Adel Goucha is a member of the investment team of RED, focused on the Kantara North Africa platform. He joined RED in 2011 upon Abraaj Capital’s acquisition of the Kantara Fund. He is based in Tunisia.

Mr. Goucha has served as an Investment Director with the Kantara Fund since 2007. In this capacity, Mr. Goucha closed two deals in the pharmaceutical sector: Opalia pharma, a fast growing generic drugs maker with best in class production facility and growing market share in the Tunisian market, and Unimed Pharma, a generics maker specialized in sterile forms such as injectables and eye drops. Unimed Pharma is a major player in the sterile products segment in North Africa.

Prior to working with Kantara, Mr. Goucha was the Head of the MENA coverage team at NATEXIS PRAMEX INTERNATIONAL, a subsidiary of Groupe Natexis Banques Populaires between 2002 and 2007. Mr. Goucha also worked in sales for PRUDENTIAL BACHE SECURITIES between May 1997 and December 1998.

Mr. Goucha holds a Masters Degree in Economics and International Finance from the University of Paris Dauphine and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Institut des Hautes Etudes Commerciales at Carthage, Tunisia.

Mr. Anas Guennoun is a member of the investment team of RED, focused on the Kantara North Africa platform. He joined RED in 2011 upon Abraaj Capital’s acquisition of the Kantara Fund. He is based in Morocco.

Mr. Guennoun joined Kantara in 2005 and is responsible for sourcing and executing deals in Morocco. Previously, he worked in the M&A department of Société Générale in Paris in 2000 and was involved in various deals, mainly in the automobile, media and retail sectors. Mr. Guennoun was in charge of valuation, modeling, processes and due diligence management as well as relationships with clients and other advisors. He has specialized in LBO deals since 2003 and advised a number of large French financial sponsors.

Mr. Guennoun holds a Master of Science degree in Finance from Paris Dauphine University in France.

Elie Habib is Lebanon Country Manager of Riyada Enterprise Development (RED), a member of the Abraaj Group. He established and leads an experienced team targeting investments in small and medium enterprises with significant growth potential, proven products or services and the capacity to expand regionally.

Prior to joining RED in April 2010, Mr. Habib consulted with numerous startups in the Silicon Valley and most recently acted as an executive consultant at Cradlepoint, a leader in 3G/4G mobile connectivity solutions located in the US. In August 2006, Mr. Habib co-founded a VC-funded startup called Vusion in Silicon Valley and served as its CEO and President. Vusion was an innovator in the domain of HD video streaming over the internet.

From 2001 to 2006, Mr. Habib held several senior positions within Nokia most recently acting as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Security and Mobile Connectivity (Silicon Valley) business unit. Mr. Habib has also held executive positions at Ramp Networks, a Silicon Valley SMB networking company that achieved IPO and was acquired by Nokia in 2001. Earlier in his career, he held executive positions at Bay Networks (acquired by Nortel Networks). Mr. Habib co-founded and served as President of Lebnet (1999-2010), the premier network of Lebanese and Lebanese high-tech professionals in the Silicon Valley and San Francisco Area. He is currently a board member of Cradlepoint, US.

Mr. Habib holds a M.S. in Computer Science from France and the US, and completed the Nokia Executive Progam and the Stanford Executive Program. In Lebanon he is involved with Endeavor as a Venture Corps advisor, MIT Forum, and has been on numerous panels and speakers engagements with the World Bank, IEEE, Berytech, GEW, IDAL and many others.

Mr. Alexandre Hamadouche is a member of the investment team of RED, focused on the Kantara North Africa platform. He joined RED in 2011 upon Abraaj Capital’s acquisition of the Kantara Fund. He is based in Algeria.

At Kantara, Mr. Hamadouche was focused on the North African market where he executed the Gallus Group transaction in the agribusiness sector and managed related portfolio companies. Prior to joining Kantara, Mr. Hamadouche  worked for Swicorp private equity funds, where he participated in executing different transactions across the MENA region in the energy, financial services, aviation and transportation sectors, as well as raising debt and evaluating other build-up and LBO investment opportunities.

Mr. Hamadouche started his private equity career within Banexi Capital Partners, a BNP Paribas SME private equity arm and a leading French private equity firm focused on mid cap French companies, where he participated in evaluating investment opportunities, execution and portfolio management efforts.

Mr. Hamadouche holds an engineering degree, Master of Science in Telecommunications from the Paris High Institute of Electronics (ISEP) and a Master of Science in Financial Engineering and Corporate Finance from the E.M. Lyon Business School in France.

Eram Hasan joined Abraaj in 2008. He has over 16 years of international general management experience. Prior to joining Abraaj, he was with Coca-Cola Company where he was COO for the Pakistan bottling business. Prior to this, he worked with Unilever as the Head of Sales and Supply Chain and with Alcoa in different corporate and line roles.

Raza Hasnani joined Abraaj in 2006 and has been involved in all aspects of the investment process from sourcing and execution to post-acquisition value-creation. He has 15 years of private equity and corporate finance experience in the US, Middle East, North Africa and South Asia. Previously, he was with Exxon Mobil Corporation in Dallas and Houston where he led financing activities for upstream and downstream projects. Mr. Hasnani has also worked in the investment banking division of Credit Suisse First Boston in Los Angeles. He started his career in 1994 at Deloitte in Philadelphia.

Mr. Hasnani holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a BA from Franklin & Marshall College in Pennsylvania. He also holds CPA and CA qualifications.

Amr Helal is responsible for sourcing, structuring and negotiating transactions in Egypt and North Africa, for Abraaj and its partner companies, as well as working to add value at Egypt’s Al Borg Laboratories, the biggest medical-testing laboratory company in the Middle East. Before joining Abraaj, Mr. Helal was a senior member of the EFG-Hermes investment banking team, where he helped originate, lead and execute several high-profile transactions in the Middle East and North Africa. These included the initial public offering of Talaat Mustafa Group, Etisalat’s purchase of Saudi Arabia’s second mobile-phone license and the sale of Al-Ahram Beverages to Heineken International.
 
With around ten years of investment banking experience, Mr. Helal has specialized in equity offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and restructuring. He has advised on more than US$ 11 billion of transactions and is a graduate of the American University in Cairo, with a BA in Economics.

Hala Hobeiche joined Abraaj in 2005 and is a member of the investment management team, involved in all aspects of the transaction process including structuring, execution, post acquisition implementation and monitoring of portfolio companies. She has completed several transactions at Abraaj including SMG, GEMS, MSF and EFC. She has also been heavily involved in the management of several portfolio companies including JorAMCo and OCI.

Prior to joining Abraaj, Ms Hobeiche was part of the investment team at the Middle East Capital Group (MECG), a leading investment and merchant bank in Lebanon. She started her career in Bank Audi, Beirut in 2000 where she spent three years as an account manager in the bank's main branch.
 
Ms Hobeiche holds a Masters Degree in Economics from the American University of Beirut. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Economics from Université Saint-Joseph.

Prior to joining Abraaj, Mr. Nayyer Hussain was with Mashreq Bank where he managed the Retail Risk Management function, focusing on Portfolio Management, Credit Underwriting, Collection and Recovery.
 
Earlier in his career, Mr. Nayyer Hussein was the Head of Retail Risk Management in Citigroup working closely with their affiliates in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Russia from 1991 to 2005. He was also involved with the launch of the Retail Banking Business in Pakistan and Russia.
 
In Saudi Arabia, Mr. Hussain worked with Saudi American Bank, and managed to turnaround an adversely performing portfolio within a period of 24 months. He also led the Retail Banking team and facilitated the merger with United Saudi Commercial Bank, previously known as Saudi Cairo Bank.

Fayez Husseini is a member of the investment team of Riyada Enterprise Development. He is based in Palestine. Mr. Husseini, has almost two decades of professional investment experience in Palestine and the Middle East. He began his career with the Palestinian Economic Development Group. As CEO, he helped provide finance to budding small and medium enterprises (SME).
 
He later joined the Palestine Commercial Services Company, predecessor of the Palestine Investment Fund (PIF) as investment manager. Other appointments included Chief Marketing Officer for the mobile phone company Palestine Cellular Communications (Jawwal), Head of Investment and Corporate Banking at Cairo-Amman Bank in Palestine, and Vice President of Business Development at Jordan-based Accelerator Technology Holdings. Mr. Husseini joined Abraaj Capital's Riyada Enterprise Development from Dubai-based FRiENDi Group, the Middle East's largest mobile virtual-network operator, where he was Senior Vice President for Business Development.
 
Mr. Husseni holds a degree in finance from the Kogod School of Business at the American University in Washington DC.

Tarek Kabrit is a member of the investment team of Riyada Enterprise Development. He is based in Lebanon.

Prior to joining Riyada Enterprise Development, Mr. Kabrit was a Principal and Partner with Siraj Capital, where he focused on the UAE, KSA, and Lebanese markets and led 4 SME investments in the telecom, retail, IT, and F&B space. Mr. Kabrit sat on the board for each of the 4 SME investments.

Prior to moving into Private Equity, Mr. Kabrit was with Deutsche Bank's Merger and Acquisitions team based out of London and then Dubai. As part of Deutsche Bank's Merger and Acquisitions team, Mr. Kabrit executed over US$ 2bn worth of M&A deals and advised on the largest MENA IPO to date.

Additionally, Mr. Kabrit spent almost 4 years as a strategy consultant with Booz and Co. principally in Beirut. At Booz and Co., he focused on the telecom, healthcare, and industrial sectors and worked on projects all over the MENA region.

Mr. Kabrit holds an MBA from INSEAD, an MSc in Finance and Economics (with merit) from the London School of Economics, a BA in Economics (with distinction) and a BSc in Biology from the American University of Beirut. He is also a CFA level 2 candidate.

Amit Kothari has over twelve years of experience in areas including M&A, capital markets, business development and financial controlling. Amit joined Abraaj in July 2009. At Abraaj, he works across the portfolio on operational improvement programs, corporate governance and financial and risk management strategies. Prior to joining Abraaj, Amit was the Assistant to the Excom at the Holcim Group based in Zurich. In this position, he managed post-acquisition integration, M&A and corporate and business development activities for Holcim’s South Asia/ASEAN subsidiaries. He has worked within Holcim’s corporate finance team as a member of the capital markets desk co-responsible for DCM/ECM transactions and project financing. He started his career as a Financial Controller.
 
Amit holds a BA (Honors) in Economics/Political Science from Illinois Wesleyan University and JD in Law from the College of Law, London. He has completed his MBA from the University of Cambridge.

Aman Lakhaney joined Abraaj in 2004 and has over 9 years of consulting and private equity experience across the Middle East, North African, and South Asian regions. At Abraaj he is a member of the investment management team, responsible for deal origination, structuring and execution, and the post acquisition management of partner companies. His primary area of focus was the GCC, Turkey, and South Asia targeting a range of sectors including financial services, retail, healthcare, food & agriculture, and manufacturing. At Abraaj he has been involved in the execution of a number of landmark regional private equity transactions including the acquisition of EFG-Hermes as well as on the post acquisition management of Acibadem Healthcare, Spinneys, and MS Forgings.
 
Mr. Lakhaney has also played a leading role in Abraaj's international expansion with the opening of Abraaj's office in Karachi, Pakistan in 2007 and more recently Abraaj's expansion into Southeast Asia. He is currently a senior member of the investment team of Abraaj Capital Asia (Pte) Limited based in Singapore with a focus on Southeast Asian equity investments.
 
Previously, he was a financial analyst at Start Consult, a boutique GCC focused consulting firm based in Dubai where he was involved in several in a number of advisory assignments across the telecoms, manufacturing, and retail industries.
 
Mr. Lakhaney is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (New York, USA), with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and Finance.

Rafique Lakhani has over 22 years of experience in financial management and controllership. Prior to joining Abraaj, from 1995 to 2005, he was Chief Financial Officer of the Cupola Group, a regionally focused operating group based in Dubai with diverse business interests in consumer, retail, information and engineering sectors in the Middle East and South Asia. At Cupola, he was responsible for group financial planning and control, treasury and risk management, tax planning, banking relationships, accounting and financial reporting. He also participated in the due diligence and financing of various acquisition and subsequent divestment transactions. Mr. Lakhani was Financial Controller for the Dewan Group in Karachi, Pakistan. Prior to joining Dewan, he was associated with Al Batha Group, Sharjah, U.A.E. as Finance Manager for their Group Treasury.

He is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.

Aziz Moolji has more than nine years experience in investment banking, primarily in New York. At Abraaj he is responsible for deal origination, structuring and execution, and portfolio management. Before joining Abraaj he was a Vice President with Merrill Lynch & Co. in the Financial Sponsors Group in New York with joint coverage and execution responsibility for leading private equity firms and hedge funds, including KKR, Harbinger, New Mountain Capital and Oaktree Capital.
 
Previously he was a senior associate at Goldman Sachs & Co. in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group in New York where his responsibilities included origination and execution of corporate M&A transactions. Over the course of his career, Mr. Moolji has been involved in the execution of more than 25 transactions, including sellside M&A, buyside M&A, equity offerings, and bank and bond financings.
 
Mr. Moolji holds a Masters in Business Administration from The Wharton School and dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering and Management Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Ovais is Senior Vice President within the Portfolio Management and Operations Group (PMOG). He has specific responsibility for creating “go-to-market”, pricing and digital capabilities across the large cap and SMC portfolios. Whilst at Abraaj, Ovais has helped define the Firm’s ESG focus, specifically with regards to the core vision Abraaj’s partner company sustainable programming. 

In 2010, he led the project team that created and launched Wamda.com, the region’s leading early and mid-stage entrepreneurship content and community portal and was also part of the core team that executed the Celebration of Entrepreneurship live event. 

From 2008 to 2010, he served as Chief Marketing & Communications Officer (CMCO) at Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC), an Abraaj Capital partner company and one of the region’s largest vertically-integrated monopoly electricity utilities. As a member of KESC’s senior management team, Ovais was responsible for the stakeholder alignment component of the Value Creation Plan:  including its sustainable and CSR programming, public affairs programming, brand repositioning, internal communications, with a US$30 million deployment budget over 2009-2012. That case is a Harvard Business School (HBS) and London Business School (LBS) MBA class case study. 

He graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) with a BSc (Econ) degree, specializing in International Trade and Development. After graduation, he spent nearly five years with AMV•BBDO, Britain’s market-leading marketing services group (part of the Omnicom Group). 

He left in 1996 to join the Cupola Group in Dubai, where he eventually served as Director – Marketing. He returned to the UK in 2000 and was with Ogilvy (part of the WPP plc group) until 2003, where he served as a Group Director.  In 2004, he founded Gloria, a leading limited-edition “big-book” publisher in London, focused on the creative, design and photography worlds. 

Ovais serves on the Middle East North Africa (MENA) Advisory Board of the worldwide Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Council®.

Shahid Naqvi is a Principal and part of the Corporate Business Development team with specific responsibilities to oversee the Sovereign Wealth Fund Strategy for Abraaj Capital.  Prior to joining Abraaj, Shahid was a Managing Director in the Investment Banking team for Fairfax PLC, an independent advisory/brokerage firm specialising in public market flotations,  in London and then set up its DIFC regulated MENA business.  Shahid is a qualified Chartered Accountant from KPMG and has several years financial services experience gained in London and New York.  Prior to joining Fairfax, Shahid was a partner at a Corporate Finance boutique in London specialising in cross border business between the Indian sub-continent, the Middle East and Europe.  He was also a Director in the Corporate Finance Group in Deutsche Bank in London for 7 years and previously worked at Daiwa Securities and Singer & Friedlander in London.

Nina Nemr has over 15 years of experience in Client Coverage, Corporate Banking, Credit Risk, Risk Management and Industry, primarily in the Levant and the GCC.  At Abraaj, Ms Nemr is responsible for Investor Coverage activities across the Levant and is based in Lebanon.

Prior to joining Abraaj, Ms Nemr was Head of Business Line in the Corporate Department at Banque Libano Francaise in Lebanon, where she was responsible for managing key corporate accounts in the construction and telecommunication sectors with a focus on trade. Furthermore, she led a team of professionals responsible for a portfolio of corporate clients active in trade and general distribution in this role.

Ms Nemr started her career at Carosserie Abillama, where she was responsible for purchasing and cost management. Prior to this, she worked as an Associate with the Merger and Acquisition team at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Cleveland, USA.

Ms Nemr holds an MBA with honors from Ohio University, USA and a Masters degree in Industrial Management from the Saint Joseph University, Lebanon. She received her Bachelors in Business Administration from Saint Joseph University, Lebanon and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the honor Society for High Scholastic Achievement.

Saqib Rashid has over 10 years of corporate finance and private equity experience. He is currently a member of the investment team and is responsible for sourcing and executing investments as well as providing portfolio management support, with a particular focus on the SME segment. Mr. Rashid joined Abraaj in 2006 and has worked on some of the firm’s landmark transactions, including EFG Hermes and Air Arabia.
 
Prior to joining Abraaj, Mr. Rashid worked at Spring Capital, a US Small Business Administration-sponsored private equity fund, where he executed six transactions in the SME segment across multiple sectors. Mr. Rashid started his career at General Electric in the company’s financial management leadership development program (FMP). He has also served as a Summer Associate at McKinsey & Co.
 
Mr. Rashid holds an MBA degree from The Wharton School and an MA degree from The Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. He received his BBA degree (with honors) from The George Washington University. Mr. Rashid is a US Fulbright Scholar and was awarded a research grant in 2002 to conduct a study of the Egyptian private equity industry.

Adnan Siddiqui has more than 20 years experience in criminal, corporate and M&A affairs. Prior to joining Abraaj, he was the Chief Legal Counsel for Dubai Investments, one of the largest public joint stock companies in the United Arab Emirates. It is listed on the Dubai Financial Market. At Dubai Investment, he was involved in regional and international joint ventures, project finance, venture capital and M&A transactions.
 
Mr. Siddiqui started his career at the English Bar in London where he practiced criminal, commercial and general common law for more than five years. His initial position in Dubai was as In-House Legal Counsel for Majid Al Futtaim Investments, where he served as the primary in-house legal advisor to the firm’s various subsidiaries and affiliates.
 
He holds a Diploma from Sorbonne University, Paris; a Public International Law Certificate from The Hague Academy of International Law, The Hague, and a LL.B. (Law) Degree from Buckingham University, UK. He is also a Barrister-at-Law, having been called to the Bar of England and Wales from The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn.

Tayyab Tareen joined Abraaj in 2006. He has over 14 years experience mainly with multinationals covering areas of business turnarounds, financial management, planning and business acquisitions. Prior to joining Abraaj, he was the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Coca-Cola Company managed bottler in UAE and Oman, a business that was successfully turned around from losses to sustained profitability within two years. From 1997 to 2001, he was with Coca-Cola Beverages Pakistan as CFO and Company Secretary.
 
He started his career in 1995 with Packages Limited in Pakistan as Manager Project Financing responsible for investment reviews and project financing.

Arshad Zahidi joined Abraaj in 2008. He has more than 16 years of industry experience, with particular expertise in the fertiliser and power sectors in areas such as process designing, project development, project management and plant operations management.
 
Mr. Zahidi started his career with Engro Chemical Pakistan Limited in 1991 where he worked in various areas in different capacities, last being the Ammonia plant Operations Manager. Prior to joining Abraaj Capital, he spent his last two years in Engro Energy (Pvt.) Limited as Engineering & Operations Manager.
 
He also worked in Qatar Fertilizer Company (QAFCO) as process design engineer from 1998 to 2000.
 
Mr. Zahidi holds a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology in Pakistan.

Farhan Zaidi has over 10 years of regional experience in the fields of corporate finance advisory, capital markets and investments. Mr. Zaidi joined Abraaj in 2006 as a member of the investment management team and has been involved in origination, evaluation, structuring and execution of deals and investment monitoring. He has worked on some of Abraaj’s landmark private equity transactions including the c.US$1 billion acquisition of the Acibadem Healthcare Group in Turkey.
 
Prior to joining Abraaj, Mr. Zaidi worked at the Abu Dhabi-based investment firm The National Investor (TNI) as a Vice President in the investment banking (IB) department, focusing on regional capital market transactions and principal investment activities of the firm. As part of the IB team, he was involved in over US$1 billion worth of financial advisory transactions including initial public offering of Aramex International.
 
His career also includes three years with MCB Bank Ltd., one of the largest banks in Pakistan, in its investment banking group where he worked on over US$100 million worth of local currency debt syndications and project finance transactions.
 
Mr. Zaidi holds an MBA degree with a concentration in finance and a BBA (Honours) degree from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA - Karachi) and is a CFA charter holder.

Seifallah Zoghbi has over 9 years experience in Private Equity and financial advisory. Mr. Zoghbi is a member of the investment team based in Cairo with a focus on the SME segment. Since joining Abraaj in 2004, Mr. Zoghbi has worked across a number of Abraaj Funds, including the Abraaj Buyout Fund II, the Infrastructure Growth Capital Fund, and the Abraaj Real Estate Fund. He has been involved in the sourcing, execution and portfolio managing of a number of transactions, including the acquisition of Egyptian Fertilizer Company, Al Borg Laboratories, the GMMOS group, and National Air Services among others. In addition to working on the Investment Team at Abraaj, Mr. Zoghbi has also served as a member of the Abraaj Investor Coverage team.
 
Mr. Zoghbi started his career in 2002 as a Business Analyst in the Transaction Advisory Services team at Ernst & Young Dubai. He participated in various engagements across industries including hospitality, healthcare, education, government services, and advertising. He later joined the Ernst & Young Real Estate and Hospitality Services Group, where he was involved in real estate across a range of countries including Egypt, Iraq, Malaysia, Oman, and the UAE.
 
Mr. Zoghbi holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Economics and a Master of Science degree in International Management from Oxford Brookes University in the UK.
